Maintenance & Usage
How EverColor® works for you!
In the garden EverColor® varieties look fantastic in combination with flowering annuals and perennials, underneath shrubs and trees as groundcover. In containers they can be used with other taller foliage and flowering plants spilling out over edges of containers and baskets giving attractive full colour impact in various colour choices. EverColor® varieties can be used as ground cover planted in groups 45cm to 60 cm apart. Our EverColor® Carex like moist but free draining soils and can grow in alkaline, neutral or acid soils. They dislike wet waterlogged conditions. In containers they grow easily. Use good quality water retaining substrates, available at your local nursery or garden centre, with good open structure and ensure containers have adequate drainage. EverColor® varieties work very well planted in container combination arrangements or alone.
Plant in full sun or shade. In very hot arid climates they do best in part shade out of hot dry winds. While not requiring much maintenance every few years Carex can be cut back and or divided and replanted in spring. They enjoy annual application of balanced fertilizers to keep looking fresh and bright. In normal garden situations they are relatively tough and resistant to most pests and diseases. Sometimes common aphid can attack if present in the garden on other plants but easily treated. EverColor® Carex are proving to be relatively deer resistant but can be attractive to rabbits and hares when present in high populations and short of other food sources.
